I released version 2.13.0 of django-tailwind-cli which includes a fix for the django-typer integration contributed by the author of django-typer. A wonderful library to write management commands for django.
On Friday, I played a bit with perplexity.ai. It is at the same time interesting and frightening. With its pages feature, it is super easy to “curate” information for a given topic. On the other hand, you have no control which sources it pulls into your curation. Our keynote speaker showed a curation, which also pulled in some fascist news sites. Nothing you want to see. Forbes published an article on it, that showcases how it is ripping off content from news sites. Intriguing read. It also exposes a certain attitude in the Silicon Valley — ripping off other people’s content is considered a “rough edge” to be fixed later. We have to fix this. I call it stealing.
I learned about slash pages on the blog of Jeff Triplett. Exciting idea. I think I will add some of these pages to the blog.
I switched from Bartender 5 to Ice as my menubar manager after the untransparent handover of the source and the company to a new owner, that hasn’t been disclosed in the beginning. Meanwhile, Ben Surtees has written a post about it: A New Chapter for Bartender. But it still makes me uneasy how the whole situation was handled. Ice, on the other hand, works like a charm and also solves one problem I have with Bartender. Check it out.
